With the expert guidance and help from NYC Second Chance Rescue, who rescued dozens of beagles as part of a larger effort to save 1,500 beagles from Ridglan Farms in Madison, Wisconsin, have been adopted.
On May 6, dogs who had been bred for biomedical research, made national news after activists arrived at the facility trying to save them. Ridglan Farms surrendered their license and sold the dogs after authorities said the lab violated state veterinary standards.
Shortly, thereafter, an agreement with a non profit were able to purchase 1,500 beagles. Many of the dogs had spent their entire lives in crates and kennels. Some dogs were used repeatedly for breeding.
Several animal shelters across the U.S. partnered in the effort to provide a pipeline for the dogs’ adoption.
Dozens of the beagles arrived at NYC Second Chance Rescue, and after weeks of veterinary care, socialization, training and lots of love, the rescue’s founder Jennifer Brooks posted on social media that all the beagles in the group she rescued have been adopted…
