Kennesaw approves flat property tax rate

This week, the Kennesaw City Council voted to keep its maintenance and operations (M&O) property tax rate flat for another year.

The general fund M&O millage rate will remain at 7.75 mills, the same rate the city has levied since lowering it from 8 mills in 2023.

“I want to take a moment to explain an important point that can often be confusing,” Mayor Derek Easterling said during the meeting. “State law requires this hearing to be advertised as a ‘tax increase’ because of the way the rollback rate is calculated. However, maintaining the city’s current millage rate does not automatically mean that Kennesaw homeowners will pay higher city property taxes.”…
