Kirby Smart and the Georgia Bulldogs remain in the No. 5 spot on the AP poll going into Week 8 following their 41-31 win over the Mississippi State Bulldogs on Saturday afternoon.
Quarterback Carson Beck played a big role for Georgia in the win, completing 36-of-48 passes for 459 yards, three touchdowns and two interceptions. Wide receivers Arian Smith and Dillon Bell had five receptions and a score each.
During the game, there was a sideline incident that involved coach Smart and Mississippi State quarterback Michael Van Buren Jr.
As Van Buren ran out of bounds, Smart came into the picture and he was clearly upset with the officials and started jawing at the ref.
As Van Buren was attempting to walk back onto the field, Smart, in the heat of the moment, gave the young quarterback a shove as he was arguing with the official. Van Buren glanced over at Smart after the push and then headed on his way. Although the referee was standing right next to the incident, no flag was thrown.
