Woodstock man sentenced to life for grooming, molesting several young girls

ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) — A Woodstock man who was convicted of grooming and sexually abusing several girls will spend the rest of his life behind bars.

On Tuesday, 47-year-old Nicholas Wrightsman was sentenced to life, plus 60 years. A Cherokee County jury found him guilty of one count of aggravated child molestation, one count of aggravated sexual battery and nine counts of child molestation last Saturday, according to the District Attorney’s Office for the Blue Ridge Judicial Circuit, which covers Cherokee County.

The Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office opened an investigation into Wrightsman in 2020 after he “engaged in aggravated sexual acts” with one of the victims. Three girls, all in their early teens, told investigators that Wrightsman — whom they knew as “Uncle Nick” — had been abusing them since they were around 6 years old.

Wrightsman used his close relationship with the victims’ parents to gain access to the children. The parents allowed sleepovers at his home near Lake Allatoona, and tickling and cuddling turned into sexual assault, according to the district attorney’s office…
