Mid-South Food Bank: ‘A hand goes just as far as a dollar,’ stresses need for volunteers

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The Mid South Food Bank feeds on average 2.5 million meals monthly across the 31 counties they serve. Before they can get the trucks on the road, they need food in the bins and boots on the ground.

Nicolle Willis, the Communications and Volunteer Services Manager for the Mid-South Food Bank, told Your News Leader that the need for donations and volunteers is endless. Once food has been donated, each item must then be individually sorted and organized.

“Donations are very instrumental; that’s how were able to do it through the kindness of others, whether that’s food, funds, volunteers, all of that is a big deal.”…
