Quarterback Marcus Stokes pointed to an unusual challenge Memphis faced in its first two games: uncertainty.
“I don’t want to give any excuses,” Stokes said. “It is tougher, though, knowing that the first two games, we really don’t know what type of defense they’re going to be, what they’re going to come out with. … We don’t really know 100% what they’re going to come out with. And so I guess that’s why maybe we slow-started.”
