MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Amplify Cell Technologies, which broke ground on a billion-dollar vehicle battery plant in Byhalia, Mississippi in 2024, is laying off workers.
Seventy-three workers are affected, with the layoffs effective May 30, according to state employment officials.
The facility was set to make lithium batteries for vehicles in a joint venture with three commercial vehicle manufacturers — Daimler Truck, Accelera by Cummins, and PACCAR.
