Armed robber threatens Walgreens employee with 5-second countdown

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Police say a would-be robber pointed a gun at a Walgreens employee and gave her a five-second countdown to turn over the money from her cash register before leaving empty-handed in Southwest Memphis.

The whole thing was captured on surveillance cameras inside the store in the 4100 block of South Third Street. Officers responded to the attempted robbery on Tuesday, April 14, at approximately 9:00 p.m.

The Walgreens clerk said the suspect walked up to her register and began mumbling while tugging at his jacket.

She said the male then stated, “Give me everything, right now, you got 5 seconds, ” while pointing a black handgun at her.

He counted down from 5 while threatening the employee. She told him the register was empty, showed him the empty cash box, and he left the store.
