Memphis homeowner fears damaged tree could fall onto her house near elementary school

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A large, split tree blocking part of Cottonwood Road near Fox Meadows Elementary School has left nearby residents worried for their safety and motorists squeezing through a dangerous bottleneck.

The tree came down across the roadway Friday, forcing drivers to climb the curb to get around it in a busy school zone. While city crews removed part of the debris to reopen traffic, what remains standing is causing growing concern for one homeowner who lives just feet away.
