Lawsuit accuses Tennessee Highway Patrol of using traffic stops to aid immigration enforcement

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — A new lawsuit filed in the Davidson County Chancery Court accuses the Tennessee Highway Patrol of using traffic stops as a tool for immigration enforcement during operations in Nashville and Memphis.

The lawsuit was filed by the Tennessee Immigrant and Refugee Rights Coalition along with several Tennessee taxpayers, who alleged THP troopers worked “in tandem” with federal immigration agents during targeted operations, including one known as “Flood the Zone.”

According to the 45-page complaint, Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents allegedly rode inside THP vehicles, followed behind troopers, or waited nearby during traffic stops…
