A Mesa man has been arrested after police said they found his chronically ill adult son severely neglected inside a bathtub, where he had allegedly been left for about seven weeks.
According to a report by 12 News journalist William Pitts, 52-year-old Melvin Shimkus was booked into jail on one count of vulnerable adult abuse after officers found his son in conditions prosecutors described as extreme neglect.
The case has shocked people in the surrounding neighborhood, where residents said they had no idea something so disturbing was unfolding only a few doors away…
