Driver runs red light, causes deadly crash in Chandler, police say

CHANDLER, AZ (3TV/CBS 5) — A woman from Sun Lakes is dead after police said a driver ran a red light and crashed into a sedan in Chandler on Thursday morning. Authorities say that around 10 a.m., a pickup truck driver was heading north on Alma School Road and didn’t stop for the red light at Willis Road, just south of the Loop 202 Santan Freeway, slamming into a sedan that was going east. The passenger, 69-year-old Lila Barton, had to be pulled from the car. She was taken to the hospital but didn’t survive.
