‘A proud day’: Teen stabbed by girlfriend honored with posthumous diploma at Miami Northwestern graduation

What was supposed to be a joyful graduation day became an emotional tribute for the family of a South Florida teenager whose life was tragically cut short.

On Thursday, the family of 17-year-old Yahkeim Lollar gathered at the Ziff Opera House as Miami Northwestern Senior High School honored him with a posthumous diploma during the school’s graduation ceremony.

White caps and gowns, smiling graduates and proud families filled the venue as students celebrated the next chapter of their lives. For the Lollar family, however, the ceremony served as both a moment of pride and remembrance. A portrait of Yahkeim was displayed during the event, helping keep his memory alive among classmates, teachers, and loved ones.
