Severe weather leads to widespread impacts across Southeast Wisconsin

MILWAUKEE, Wis. — As tens of thousands are still without power across Southeast Wisconsin following heavy rain and thunderstorms, the weather is having an impact on both school buildings and the region’s sewer system.

Milwaukee Area Technical College, in a voicemail message, says the main building at the West Allis campus will be closed until further notice due to a power outage. Online classes resume as normal, and the A building and childcare services remain open. All other MATC campuses also remain open.

Just about a mile southeast, Horace Mann Elementary School is sending students home early due to an outage at the school, while Dr. Howard Fuller Collegiate Academy’s elementary campus on Milwaukee’s north side is staying open despite an outage on campus…
