Workers at Fika Café and Slate & Stone Catering, both housed at the American Swedish Institute in Minneapolis, have unanimously voted to enact a one-day strike, according to Unite Here Local 17.
The group voted to unionize with Unite Here in September, but has yet to reach an agreement with Texas-based employer Culinaire, which operates catering services and restaurants around the country.
The workers are not employed by the American Swedish Institute, and Culinaire did not respond to a request for comment.
The group plans to strike on June 20, the day of the American Swedish Institute’s annual Midsommar Celebration, “unless they get a fair contract,” according to the announcement…
