Rabbi Schneur and Sheina Matusof will move to Eden Prairie, Minnesota, in the coming weeks to establish Chabad of Eden Prairie under the auspices of Upper Midwest Merkos-Lubavitch House and Chabad of Minneapolis. The new center will offer Shabbos and Yom Tov gatherings, Torah classes, children’s programs and one-on-one learning for Jewish residents in a city of more than 60,000 people that has not had a dedicated Chabad center of its own.
“The Rebbe’s vision requires us to look beyond the places where Jewish life is already established and ask where Jews are building their lives today,” said Rabbi Mendel Feller, associate director of Upper Midwest Merkos-Lubavitch and director of Lubavitch House in West St. Paul. “It is significant that we are now building a dedicated Chabad center in Eden Prairie, giving local Jewish residents the opportunity to build a Jewish community in their own neighborhood.”
The focus will be local and personal from the start. The Matusofs plan to reach and connect Jewish residents throughout Eden Prairie, and develop programs to strengthen Yiddishkeit and belonging across the Jewish spectrum.
