Gulf Shores, Ala. — (GSN) — One might assume that with the extra tourist traffic during summer months Baldwin County would experience their highest traffic fatality rate during that period. A report from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) shows that Baldwin County’s fatal accidents occur at a consistent rate during the year.
Alabama ranked as the 7th most dangerous state in the country for percentage of fatal automobile accidents during summer. Mississippi was the worst among southern states and second in the nation.
When analyzing the NHTSA reports for the available 14 year period, Baldwin County results were consistent no matter the month. April was the safest while September was the deadliest. (See Below)
