MOBILE, Ala. (NBC 15) — Ryan Timothy Smith, 34, pleaded guilty Monday to murder in the 2020 death of Derek Hase and was sentenced to 20 years in prison.
The case dates back to September 2020, when Hase was reported missing by a family member. He was last seen Sept. 25, 2020, after leaving his home in Irvington.
The Mobile County Sheriff’s Office said investigators later determined Hase had been killed at a home on Merwood Court in Mobile. Detectives executed a search warrant at the home and found evidence that a violent encounter had taken place there…
