PRICHARD, Ala. (NBC 15) — The City of Prichard is notifying residents of two upcoming changes to residential garbage collection as the City works to improve the efficiency and consistency of sanitation services throughout the community.
Beginning Monday, August 17, 2026, the City of Prichard Garbage Department will collect one household garbage cart per residence. Garbage collection drivers have been instructed to empty only one City garbage cart at each household. The City recognizes that some households may require additional garbage capacity. Beginning October 1, 2026, residents will have the option to obtain a second garbage cart. Additional information regarding the process, requirements, and any applicable details will be provided as the October 1 implementation date approaches.
Beginning Tuesday, August 25, 2026, the City of Prichard Garbage Department will transition to a three-day-per-week residential garbage collection schedule.
