MOBILE COUNTY, Ala. (WKRG) — Beginning in early September, the Mobile County Sheriff’s Office will no longer provide patrol and dispatch services to the City of Prichard.
Mobile police investigating home invasion and assault
According to an MCSO news release, they will stop providing services at 6 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 4.
The sheriff’s office took over responsibility for Prichard in June after an investigation into the Prichard Police Department, leading to the arrest of four officers and the police chief.
“For nearly 10 weeks, our deputies, dispatchers and staff have stepped in to ensure the citizens of Prichard continued to receive law enforcement services during an extremely difficult period,” Sheriff Paul Burch said. “We have done that because public safety demanded it, but this level of service cannot continue indefinitely without a contract, a defined timeline or a sustainable plan.”…
