A multi-agency partnership last year removed 42 abandoned and derelict vessels from Alabama’s coastal waterways, clearing nearly 175 tons of debris that posed safety hazards to boaters.
The Gulf of America Alliance, working with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency and Mississippi State University Coastal and Marine Extension, pulled 32 vessels from Bon Secour Bay, South Mobile County and the Mobile-Tensaw Delta during the winter, according to a recent report.
