Texas woman accused of stealing more than $400K fraud scheme, caught in Saraland

MOBILE, Ala. (NBC 15) — A Texas woman is accused of successfully stealing more than $400,000 through a multistate bank fraud and identity theft scheme before she was caught at a Regions Bank branch in Saraland, according to a federal criminal complaint.

Federal investigators say Stephanie Sean Strother,61 of Dallas, also known as Stephanie Sean Cummings, is tied to more than $820,000 in attempted fraudulent transactions at Regions Bank locations across several states.

Authorities say Saraland police responded to the bank Aug. 26 after receiving a report that a woman was trying to send a $50,000 wire transfer to a Fort Worth, Texas, account while also attempting to withdraw about $8,500 in cash…
