Mobile City Council mulls ‘odd expenditure’ for Deep South city – snowplows

MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) – The city is poised to buy equipment it might never use – snowplows.

The proposal has sparked a strong reaction. Mobile City Council members said Tuesday they have gotten calls from constituents urging a “no” vote against the proposal.

Council members agreed the $73,372 contract with Fleetco to purchase four snowplows was worthwhile. A vote could come as early as next week. Still, the notion of buying snow equipment for a city in the Deep South had City Councilman Ben Reynolds asking Public Services Director Matt Anderson about ideas for secondary uses…
