Atmore man dies in early-morning crash April 19

An Atmore man died in a single-vehicle crash early this morning on Highway 31 in Baldwin County, according to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency.

Senior Trooper Kendra R. McKinney said in a release that the crash occurred at approximately 6:31 a.m. today, adding that Derrel D. Williams, 34, was fatally injured when the 2010 Mercury Milan he was driving left the roadway and struck a tree.

Williams was not using a seat belt at the time of the crash, was ejected and was pronounced deceased at the scene,” McKinney said.

McKinney said the crash occurred on Highway 31 near the 34 mile marker, approximately 7 miles south of the Atmore city limits, in Baldwin County.

Nothing further is available as troopers with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s (ALEA) Highway Patrol Division continue to investigate.
