MOBILE, Ala. ( WKRG ) — A Texas man who has been connected to the Darrin Southall drug distribution organization and who arranged for drug shipments to be sent from Texas to Mobile has been sentenced to prison time, according to the U.S. Department of Justice.

39-year-old Dewayne “Money” McDaniel was sentenced to 105 months after he pleaded guilty in July 2024 to conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute cocaine and conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute cocaine.
According to a USDOJ news release, court records show McDaniel met with couriers in Mobile who traveled to Houston to pay for Southall’s shipments of drugs and to bring the drugs back to Mobile to distribute them.
“McDaniel would collect and count the drug money and arrange for the drug shipments to be concealed in the vehicles used to transport them from Houston to Mobile,” the release said.
Southall pleaded guilty in February 2022 to operating a continuing criminal enterprise with illegal drug distribution activity involving cocaine, heroin and fentanyl in Mobile, Biloxi, Houston and California.
