Ex-Mount Vernon police chief settles overtime suit, status of ticket quota claims unclear

MOUNT VERNON, Ala. (NBC 15) — Court records show that Eric Pettway, the former Police Chief in Mt. Vernon, and the Town of Mount Vernon have reached a settlement in his failure to pay overtime lawsuit.

No details on the settlement were disclosed in the court filings.

As part of the lawsuit, Pettway made allegations that city officials pressured Pettway to “write traffic tickets, especially to white workers who do not live in the town, in an effort to generate revenue for the town.”…
