MPD: Fleeing homeless man injures officer before arrest

MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) – A 36-year-old homeless man is being held on several charges at Mobile County Metro Jail after he allegedly injured a Mobile police officer, officials said.

Police said it was about 11 p.m. Monday when officers responded to the 500 block of Hickory Street in reference to a male subject damaging property. They found the man — Xavier Ledell Dunson — still at the location and attempted to make contact with him, police said.

They said Dunson then ran and once officers caught up with him he struck an officer in the head, causing a small cut and bruising…
