The celebration will begin at 8 a.m. on Friday May 22, at Crawford-Murphy Park, 351 South Ann Street in Mobile. The new splashpad will offer families in the Oakleigh, Leinkauf and Maysville neighborhoods a way to cool off from the summer heat. It will include river-based scenery and decorations, including an alligator head, a frog, turtle, and tall reeds that all spray water. At the center of the design are fish tail shaped tipping buckets. The splashpad was created as part of a partnership between the Mobile Parks and Recreation Department and Aiker Construction, who worked to convert a disused wading pool into a “vibrant spray ground.”
