Foley Railroad Museum celebrates America’s 250th birthday

FOLEY, Ala. (WKRG) — The Foley Railroad Museum is set to hold a celebration of America’s 250th birthday to kick off the summer.

Passengers will board the train at the Foley Railroad Museum at the historic 1909 L&N Depot, and will be taken around Heritage Park, beginning Tuesday, May 26.

This is just one of many events the Railroad Museum is hosting to celebrate America’s 250th birthday. On Tuesday and Thursday, Revolutionary War living history interpreters will be present at the museum. There will also be a Revolutionary War-themed scavenger hunt, where participants can look for hidden items across the Railroad Museum and the Model Train Museum. The first 250 visitors to complete the scavenger hunt will receive a commemorative pin. Visitors can also leave a special message on America’s 250th Visitor Response Wall.

The Model Train Exhibit and Event Train will operate from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. The Foley Railroad Museum is open Monday through Saturday.
