MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) – Surveillance video outside a downtown nightclub moments before a shooting shows Cornelius Antwaun Coleman extending his arm and then people running for cover, a police investigator testified Thursday.
Detective Charlie Welch, who was working on a Mardi Gras detail on the night of Joe Cain Day on Feb. 15, testified that he responded to reports of gunshots on Dauphin Street. He testified that investigators found 15 shell casings – two from a 9-mm gun and 13 from a .40-caliber gun – but never located a gun.
What they did find, Welch testified, was an injured Coleman. He said the 24-year-old Mobile man later admitted to getting into a fight inside the club…
