SPANISH FORT, Ala. — School may be out, but more than 25 boys and girls spent part of their day learning about service and sacrifice at the Alabama State Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Spanish Fort on Saturday.
Young Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts and their families placed flags at the foot of each of the cemetery’s 2,700 grave markers, honoring men and women who served in the U.S. military, including many who lost their lives defending the country. One by one, the scouts saluted and read aloud each name on the markers.
