It’s not uncommon in Stanislaus County to see bicyclists take over roadways in droves to perform tricks, slow traffic, swerve across lanes and sometimes even destroy property.
After hearing about a planned road takeover near Smyrna Park in Ceres on July 19, the city’s Police Department coordinated a multiagency effort that impounded 13 bikes and electric motorcycles, conducted 20 enforcement stops and issued 17 citations.
“This dangerous and unlawful behavior creates significant safety risks not only for the participants, but also for motorists, pedestrians, and the community as a whole,” CPD said in a post on Facebook…
