Multiple Norman Bridge Road businesses damaged in early Sunday morning structure fire

Montgomery firefighters responded to a large building fire on the 3300 block of Norman Bridge Road in the early morning hours on Sunday.

A statement from the Montgomery Fire/Rescue Department said the crew arrived at about 2:50 a.m. and found “heavy smoke and fire involvement in the entire structure.” Four businesses on the block were damaged.

The situation was classified as a second-alarm fire, meaning that when responders initially assessed the fire, they deemed it necessary to call in additional manpower and equipment for fire control.

“Aerial ladder streams were deployed defensively and large hand lines stretched around the building,” Montgomery Fire/Rescue’s statement read. “Fire was eventually brought under control and an interior attack was implemented for follow up on hot spots.”

Firefighters conducted primary and secondary searches, and they found that no civilians had been injured in the fire. No first responders were injured during the response either.

Still, it is unclear what level of damage the four impacted businesses are facing, and Montgomery Fire/Rescue has not released the cause of the fire. The department’s statement said that remains under investigation.
