Organizations serving Lowndes County residents were among others from across Alabama honored for their work at a recent Black Belt Community Foundation (BBCF) lunch held in Selma. The foundation granted $26,990 to twelve organizations, disbursed between dollars to fund community and arts projects.
“Our grants awards ceremony held at the Carl C. Morgan Convention Center in Selma hosted nearly 200 participants for an exciting program celebrating the 142 different community organizations receiving over 150 different grants,” said public relations director Daron Harris. “We were also thankful to be able to support two of Alabama’s longest running festivals – The Black Belt Folk Roots Festival (in Greene County) and the annual Bridge Crossing Jubilee in Selma.”
Ten Lowndes County programs receiving a combined total of $20,000 are: Burkville Volunteer Fire Department, student Tutoring & Enrichment Program (STEP), Calhoun Community Development Corporation, Cornwallis 1828, Ark of Love Foundation, Hopes Youth Development Services, Inc., Lowndes County Community Life Center, Hayneville/Lowndes County Public Library, Lions Pride Alumni Association and Mt Zion Christian Church…
