Tennessee lawmaker proposes suspending tax on gas, diesel and food

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WZTV) — A Tennessee lawmaker is urging state leaders to temporarily suspend taxes on gasoline, diesel fuel, and food, arguing the move would provide relief to families facing higher living costs.

In a May 19 letter to House Speaker Cameron Sexton, Rep. Monty Fritts, R-Kingston, proposed suspending the taxes for at least the remainder of the current fiscal year.
