LA VERGNE, Tenn. (WKRN) — What began as a Facebook Marketplace transaction earlier this week in La Vergne ended in a shooting and four people being taken into custody, authorities announced Friday.
According to the La Vergne Police Department, officers were sent to the area of Waldron Road and Centrepoint Drive to respond to reports of a shooting and a possible carjacking at approximately 11 a.m. on Wednesday, June 3.

When authorities arrived at the scene, they reportedly detained two people and rendered aid to a third person who had sustained a gunshot wound. The injured individual was taken to a local hospital to be treated and was later released, per the LPD.
Investigators later learned that three people arranged to purchase an item from a seller as part of a Facebook Marketplace transaction. However, at some point during the meeting, detectives determined that the trio took the item without paying and fled in a vehicle.
