TDOC launches mobile community supervision offices for parolees and probationers

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WJHL) — The Tennessee Department of Correction (TDOC) announced it is unveiling a new fleet of mobile community supervision offices to better help those living in rural areas on probation or parole complete check-ins.

According to a news release from TDOC, the initiative aims to “increase the department’s ability to serve rural communities while enhancing flexibility and safety for probation parole officers.”

The mobile units will bring officers directly to rural communities in the Volunteer State, helping individuals on parole or probation who may have transportation barriers keeping them from completing required check-ins.

“TDOC supervises probationers and parolees in every corner of Tennessee, including rural counties where transportation can be a real challenge,” said Assistant Commissioner of Community Supervision Chris Hansen. “Some individuals don’t have access to a vehicle, and these areas usually lack public transportation. These mobile offices will help us bring supervision services directly to those communities, making it easier for individuals to meet their requirements and stay connected to the resources they need.”

TDOC currently operates two mobile community supervision offices and plans to add a third. Each mobile unit is equipped with a workspace for up to four officers and a private meeting area, the release said…
