John Deere names three finalists in nationwide excavator giveaway

SILVIS, Ill. — A Kentucky contractor extending water lines to rural neighborhoods, a California family business preparing its fourth generation and a Tennessee startup responding to natural disasters have one thing in common: they’re all hoping to take home a new John Deere excavator.

The three contractors are finalists in John Deere’s “Building America” Excavator Contest, a nationwide competition launched earlier this year to recognize construction businesses helping shape their communities. The contest, announced at CONEXPO-CON/AGG and inspired by America’s 250th anniversary, invited contractors to submit videos explaining how they are strengthening their communities and how a new midsize excavator would help them continue that work.

The finalists were invited to TPC Deere Run during the John Deere Classic, where they met one another and shared their stories before the public voting period, which opens Aug. 17 and runs through Aug. 31. The winner will be announced Sept. 8…
