TDOT to widen Thompson Lane as Murfreesboro growth drives traffic

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (WZTV) — As Murfreesboro continues to grow, so does the traffic on Thompson Lane.

The Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT) is preparing to begin construction on a major widening project designed to improve traffic flow along one of the city’s busiest corridors.

The project will widen approximately 4.5 miles of North Thompson Lane, stretching from Northwest Broad Street to Memorial Boulevard. The roadway, which currently has one lane in each direction, will be expanded into a five-lane corridor with two travel lanes in each direction and a center turn lane where appropriate.
