Beekeepers round up 1M bees on I-40 after crash in Tennessee led to them escaping

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — The Tennessee Department of Transportation said the ramp from I-40 East to Henley Street is back open after bees swarmed the area after a crash on Friday morning.

TDOT spokesperson Mark Nagi said the driver of the truck and the passenger are beekeepers and the truck that crashed was carrying 1 million bees. The beekeepers helped “corral” the insects.

Nagi said the truck was destroyed, but the bees are “buzzing.”…
