Metro Animal Care and Control captures escaped emu

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — An unexpected guest has been staying at Metro Animal Care and Control: a female emu named Picasso.

Picasso escaped from her Mt. Juliet home through an open door latch on Thursday, April 23, and was found nearly a mile away. Unlike Ed the zebra, who was on the loose for eight days in Rutherford County, the emu was only missing for a few hours.

Following an investigation into calls about an emu on the run, animal control officers were able to find and corral Picasso into a trailer they renovated for her needs, according to MACC spokesperson Matt Peters.
