Students step in on trail, help carry injured hiker to safety in Tennessee state park

BEERSHEBA SPRINGS, Tenn. — A hike in the Tennessee wilderness turned into a rescue mission.

Students from Southern Adventist University were on a backpacking trip at Savage Gulf State Park when they came across an injured hiker who could not walk.

The group had been hiking and camping as part of a class when they found the man on a rocky trail less than a mile from the trailhead.

With daylight fading, four students stayed behind to help…
