MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (WGNS) – Middle Tennessee Electric is preparing to move power lines in a busy part of Murfreesboro to make the local grid more reliable. Starting May 11th, crews will begin relocating infrastructure in the area of North Thompson Lane and Wilkinson Pike. The project aims to move lines that currently run through the Stones River National Battlefield.
By moving the lines to the roadway, MTE says it can access equipment more easily for repairs and routine maintenance. The work is expected to take about four months to complete. While the new poles go up, the old lines will stay in place until communication providers move their equipment to the new route.
Rutherford County drivers should prepare for traffic changes. MTE will use traffic control measures, including lane shifts, which could cause brief delays during the day. Officials ask residents to use extra caution when driving through the work zone…
