GPS softball punches ticket to Murfreesboro with dominant quarterfinal performance

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. — Right from the first pitch in a D-II AA Quarterfinal tilt between the Bruisers of Girls Preparatory School and the Eagles of Brentwood Academy, it was clear who the better squad was.

The Bruisers bats went to work immediately, raking in 6 runs in the opening frame. On the other side, GPS’s defense locked down the Eagles’ attack. It was all led by the freshman phenom, Sky Marshall. Marshall shutout Brentwood Academy, highlighted by a 3-up-3-down 2nd inning. All three outs were strikeouts. She proceeded to follow that up with a 2-run bomb in the bottom half of the 2nd.

The Bruisers would cruise to an 8-0 game-one win.

It would be much of the same in game two as GPS would dominate 9-0. Over two games, GPS outscored Brentwood 17-0 in the State Quarterfinal…
