Near record high today, storms ahead this week

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — Coming off the first 90° day of the year on Sunday, there are two more hot days ahead!

Temperatures will climb a little higher this afternoon. We are forecasting a high temperature of 93°, within two degrees of the record high. Skies will be mostly sunny with a breezy south wind. There is an extremely low rain chance in far western Middle Tennessee.

Another breezy afternoon is expected. Gusts between 20-30 mph during the day.

Temperatures in the 80s to low 90s will continue on Tuesday afternoon. Most of Tuesday will stay dry, but a cold front will begin moving closer in the evening, bringing a line of showers and storms. Some of the storms could be strong to severe. The Storm Prediction Center has a Marginal Risk (level 1/5) for areas mostly west of I-65. A Slight Risk (level 2/5) clips parts of Christian, Henry, Muhlenberg, and Trigg counties.

The severe threat will be from Tuesday evening into the early hours of Wednesday morning. The primary concern is wind gusts and heavy rain with lightning.

Future Tracker has Tuesday starting dry, but storms increasing late afternoon into the evening. As these storms approach, there could be a few isolated severe storms in them. This should weaken through the late evening, but storm chances continue at times into Wednesday morning.
