KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — As East Tennesseans prepare to spend Memorial Day weekend on the water, the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency is warning boaters that drought conditions could make lakes more dangerous this summer.
TWRA officials say Tennessee is currently experiencing moderate to extreme drought conditions, with rainfall totals sitting well below normal for this time of year. Without significant rain in the coming weeks, several East Tennessee reservoirs may never reach full pool levels this season.
