Volunteers relocate more than 100 sea turtle eggs found in Myrtle Beach

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (WBTW) — Volunteers on Sunday relocated more than 100 loggerhead sea turtle eggs found along a section of shoreline in Myrtle Beach.

Crews worked the area of 64th Ave N. to safely move the eggs to a more secluded area, giving the next a more successful chance to hatch. Interpretive rangers from Myrtle Beach State Park coordinated with police.

Beachgoers are reminded to:

  • Fill in holes in before leaving
  • Remove chairs, tents and toys each evening
  • Keep lights off or shielded near the beach
  • Give marked nests plenty of space
