MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (WBTW) — A Myrtle Beach woman was scammed out of $9,500 on Wednesday after receiving a phone call from a man claiming to be from her bank’s fraud department.
The woman, Joyce Townsend, said the caller told her that a suspicious transaction of $9,500 had occurred on her account that morning.
To help catch the perpetrator, the caller directed Townsend to withdraw the same amount from her bank, in person, and wire it to a designated account, claiming the fraud was an internal bank operation…
