Drone video provide shows new I-75 diverging diamond in Collier County

In case you missed it, the Florida Department of Transportation’s construction of Collier County’s historic first Diverging Diamond Interchange (DDI) is still in progress, but as of June 1, when it comes to the new traffic flow, it is working as designed.

We sent our visuals journalist Ricardo Rolon to the site at Pine Ridge Road and I-75 to check out how the DDI is looking. He was able to pilot our drone above the “diamond” configuration, which provides a great view of how the traffic flow works there now.

When will the Pine Ridge Road DDI be completed?

This traffic flow shift on June 1 marked the completion of the DDI configuration, not final completion of the project.

Crews will continue working on sidewalks, barrier walls, pond excavation, permanent signage and signalization, lighting, paving, striping, and sod installation, with final completion of this DDI, the second in SW Florida, anticipated mid-2027…
