Bells will be ringing throughout the Greater Naples area at 4 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 17 to mark the signing of the U.S. Constitution on the same day at the same time in 1787.
Throughout Collier County, 10 churches will ring their bells and carillons to celebrate this historic signing as part of the national Bells Across America event which will ring in Constitution Week. The national Constitution Week runs from Thursday, Sept. 17 to Wednesday, Sept. 23.
The week will feature educational events including displays at the Collier County libraries on Central Avenue, Orange Blossom Drive, and Lely Cultural Parkway. There will be a public reading of the Preamble to the U.S. Constitution on the grounds of the First Presbyterian Church of Naples, 250 6th Street South at 3:45 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 17 followed by the 4 p.m. ringing of bells.
